What makes a book so enjoyable? Some might say it is the adventure in a book, others might say it is the way the author paints a picture in your head. A good book is filled with a good setting, interesting characters and a good plot.

Max is a very good book for portraying a setting, in the book Max you feel as if you are in the story. The bird kids do air shows in various places. But they always have to be on the look out for the M-Geeks. Once Max’s mom gets kidnapped they venture off under the islands of Hawaii to try and rescue Max’s mom. When I say under the islands of Hawaii I mean it, they have to go in a submarine under the islands of Hawaii to try to rescue Max’s mom. When they are under the islands of Hawaii they are gently gliding over the ocean floor. Since they are on the ocean floor you know it is dark, and they see some animals on their journey.

Max is full of interesting characters, the main characters are bird kids for crying out load. The Bird kids are Max, Angel, Iggy, Gazzy, Fang, Nudge and their dog Total they are the heroes in Max. The villains are Mr. Chu and all of his M-Geek robots. In the book Max, Mr. Chu kidnaps Max’s mom. To help save Max’s mom many people join in, like Dr. Bridget Dwyer, and a member of the U.S. Navy come to help. Max is surely full of lively characters.

The plot of Max is very suspenseful. The bird kids were enjoying one air show, of many air shows, when they got shot at. Once they got shot at they were
leery of doing another air show. Then their flying dog Total got hit, so they stopped doing air shows and went into hiding. The bird kids came out of hiding and Max started to spend time with her mom and half-sister. Then suddenly Max’s mom got kidnapped. The bird kids put a group together to help them find her mom. The group figures out that Max’s mom is being held under water, off the coast of Hawaii. They go to Hawaii, and go on a sub-marine to find Max’s mom. They run into some obstacles along the way.

I would highly recommend this book I thoroughly enjoyed it. Max is full of suspense, action and drama. Will they find Max’s mom? If so will they rescue Max’s mom in time? You’ll have to read the book to find out.
