The Breakup Bible by Melissa Kantare reviewed by Brianna M.

Have you ever felt like a piece of your heart is missing? Well in the book, The Breakup Bible, Jennifer has this feeling a lot her junior year. In The Breakup Bible, Jennifer is feeling invisible because her true love hates her; her friends don’t know how to make her forget about him, and Jennifer is trying to find that missing piece of her heart.

The setting of the book I can relate to in life. The Breakup Bible is set in the present time including very rich preppy girls trying to rule the school. While your reading the book, if you close your eyes you can see the pain in Jennifer’s eyes and heart. When you close your eyes while reading you can also see her true love, Max, break her heart because he doesn’t see much interest in her anymore. You see that everyday at any school and work now days.

Jennifer and her brother are my favorite characters because of their imagination, curiosity, and adventures. She imagines what her life would be like if that piece of her heart was back in her life. Max is her ex-boyfriend that she is hoping that he gives her piece of her heart back. Max, her brother, because how he tries his best to make Jennifer cheerful again. He try’s by telling her that boys suck but at the same time he is trying to be a gangster.

When Max, her true love, drops her off at her house he tells her “ I don’t want to go out with you anymore because I don’t see much interest in you anymore.” After that night she feels like a piece of her heart is still with him and he will not give it back. Her mom and brother try to make her feel better when they make her smile. Jennifer’s dad and his husband set her up on a blind date. He kisses her and she never talks to him again. The rest of the book talks about the adventure of finding out what’s ahead of her in life and if she can get that piece back. Will she or will she not find the missing piece of the puzzle? Will she get back together with Max?

I would recommend this book to anybody who likes adventure and boys. If you feel like you’re a piece of your heart is missing then read The Breakup Bible because it gives you inspiration.
