Have you ever been in a big place full of mysteries and secrets? Well reading the book Peeps makes you feel as if you’re in a whole new world of Manhattan. The book is based on characters, setting, and plot and takes you on an adventure through the eyes of NOT so human beings.
The setting of the book Peeps lets you know how dangerous big cities can really be. Compared to the town I live in, small and not very scary, and to present day Manhattan, big and packed full of criminals, violence, and mysteries. When the author describes the busy city streets, it’s as if I was right there above those streets looking down on them with watchful eyes. The streets being crowded with people of all races and the smell of newly printed newspaper and the hot steaming grills of hot dog stands cooking up their daily pay. The loud sound of the traffic horns and the smell of exhaust. The everyday life of Manhattan.
The main character in this book is not like regular people. As the author first described them in the beginning, it seemed as if they were right in front of me, as if I could imagine every single facial part of their face or the particular smell that they had. The first character is a 19 year old boy named Cal. He is considered, “different”. He is also infected with the parasite but the parasite he has is not quite as insane. The parasite that he has lets him think normal and act normal but his senses are a lot stronger then regular. He can see in the dark, can smell even the smallest smells in the air and can hear sounds from miles away. The second character is Lace, short for Lacey, has just met Cal and learning about the reason why Cal is so different. She is very interested in what he does but can disappear forever if she does decide to help him with his job. Both of them seem to have something in common. But Lace is a girl who is not so girly and says “dude” a lot. Cal can sometimes be left out of things. He is really quiet and hesitates when he talks to new people.
In the book Peeps, a very strange diseases has been spread through out the city limits. According to Cal, it’s not exactly a disease, it’s a parasite. This particular parasite possesses the human body and totally takes over the body. The disaffects of the parasite are, doesn’t like sunlight, cannibalism, and your entire personality changes. Through the book, Cal is on a mission to find people that have been infected with this parasite and cure them. But as he meets a friend along the way, he has to make a decision on weather to let her help or have her disappear, forever.

Wow, I read this review and it just blew me away. This was another book I thought I wouldn't like, but I was proved wrong again by this review too. I like the way Chrissy describes the characters; without even reading the book it gives a lot of details. Which I like. This review is kinda just like reading the back of the book...just with a lot more. Great job.

I was Immediately drawn into this review with the first sentence. She used great detail to bring in a reader, and it got my attention. By reading her introduction I was already ready to go to the library and find this book. When she described the setting, the characters, and the plot, I thought that this should definitely be a book to take the time to read. Great job on the review!
