Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling Review by Travis S.

Have you ever read a book that you really liked? Some people would say no other people would say that they love any book by Dan Brown. I say that a really good book is Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Because it has good characters, setting, and Plot.
The characters in, Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix are very well portrayed in the story because not only do they add in personality of the character, J.K. Rowling also put in development of the characters lives. She has the main character; Harry develops in ways, unimaginable. He is more developed in that J.K. Rowling shows that he is more interested in the family he has he starts to care deeply about Sirius his godfather. She has him develop in different ways that make the story so good. They also start to do develop the secondary characters in ways that make them that much more important to the story, and plot of the book. She has the characters develop in a way, that you then want to read the other books. She really works magic in the characters.

The setting of the book is very well described. J.K. Rowling intrigues you in the way she words Harry walking around the castle halls of Hogwarts. She describes Hogwarts in the book in more detail than ever before. She really tries to make you feel as though you were right there at Hogwarts. The one thing I do have a problem with is they never really tell you when actually this occurs. They add in some clues but they never really describe the time setting. Some of the things they go into are which hall they are sneaking around in, which area of the forest they go into, and where each door really is compared to where the character is.

The Plot of the book is quite well laid out. They explain everything in order, nothing ever really seems out of place. They have Harry starts when he summer at his aunt and uncle’s house, Then J.K. Rowling has him go off to Hogwarts. He starts his year and does his school work like he should. Then things go off and he starts a club for him to teach some of the other students Defense Against the dark arts. After this it is at a lull and not much happens and he goes on with his schoolwork and the club. Then he starts to know about Lord Voldemort’s plans and what he is doing, then he goes to stop him, and I don’t want to spoil the ending. There were some low spots but overall the books plot was quite well.

In the book Harry potter and the order of the phoenix, the characters were portrayed and written quite well. The setting was very well laid out, and very descriptive. Although the time this took place was not really clear, but overall a good job. The characters were in my opinion the best part. They were very well portrayed. The plot was very good other than they were some times not fluent. I would recommend this book.

  1. The author did a good job describing the entire story. Incuding, characters, setting and plot. It does give you a preview of the book and what you could expect if you read it.
