Angels and Demons Dan Brown Review by Nathan D

Have you ever read a really interesting book? Some people may say that there are not any interesting books out there. Some may say most interesting books are too thick. In the book Angels and Demons, there are the characters, the setting, and the plot.
In the book Angels and Demons, there are a bunch of characters brought in. Robert Langdon is a historian at Harvard University. He is also a single man in his late 30’s, and swims every day to stay in good shape. He gets a phone call in the early morning from Maximillion Kholer, who is the director of a large company called CERN. Vittoria Vetra is in physics at the company CERN. All these people are brought together by this big plot from an ancient satanic cult to get back at the Catholic Church.
The setting starts out in the early morning of a nice day in Boston. Then the main character Robert Langdon is flown on a jet to Switzerland, where the company CERN resides. It is now about mid afternoon when Robert and Vittoria are flown on another jet to the Vatican City. This is where they spend the rest of the day and late into the night. In the Vatican they get taken to churches throughout the entire area of Rome. Some of the places they end up at are St. Peter’s Square, and the Sistine Chapel.
In the book Angels and Demons, the plot is very confusing, and it is at times hart to understand. Robert Langdon wakes up to a call in the early morning from a man named Maxamillion Kholer. He is told of a murder from an old satanic cult called the Illuminati. This group has been believed to be extinct for more than century. Robert is taken to Scotland to look over the body. The man that was murdered has a brand Illuminati across his chest, the brand having perfect symmetry. This is a big clue that the Illuminati did not go inactive and are on the move. The scientist that was murdered had discovered a brilliant new technology called Antimatter. Which when coming in contact with matter could be like a nuclear explosion. Robert Langdon meets the daughter of this scientist, her name is Vittoria. They are both sent to the Vatican City to find antimatter that was stolen when her father was murdered. When they get there, they are sent on a wild goose chase to solve a riddle from the Illuminati. The four Il Preferiti, the four cardinals that are preferred candidates for the next Pope, are being murdered and branded with Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. These are the four elements of science when the Illuminati were high up in power. They also have to search for the antimatter before it goes off and destroys the Vatican.
This book is a great book, and it explains a lot about the church history. It takes a little time to read, and the reader has to be at the skill level to comprehend what is going on. I would suggest this book to anyone that likes confusing books, or anyone that likes reading big books filled with a ton of interesting points.

  2. That was a very good synopsis and analysis of this book, however the Illuminati were actually the early incarnations of Athiests or Agnostics

  4. The review for this book stuck out to me. There is a lot of detail in this story, like when explaining what they do the whole day. I also heard that the movie is pretty good, and the books are always better than the movies. I think that I am going to read this book sometime in the future.

  6. The review was very descriptive and very organized. When reading the review I was half expecting to keep ready and finish the story. The review was so descriptive I felt that I had read the story, without having the end given away to me. I am hoping to read this book and see what happens next.
